 Adobe CS3 is a great choice in photo editing software. There are many applications out there to get you where you want to be. Make sure the application will do what you want before you purchase. Photoshop classes are available through the ISSO. Contact us if you have any questions.

.PNG files are intended to use primarily with other images or with backgrounds. .PNG files are transparent in nature. See image attached for example.
